[Maintenance completed & fully functional] Technics SL-10 Linear Tracking

This is the well-known Technics SL-10, a record-jacket-sized linear tracking full-auto turntable.

It is a fully serviced and fully operational unit. The insulators have been replaced.

There are scratches on the top surface and minor marks on the sides, but overall it is in relatively good condition.

The cartridge is a Technics EPC-P24 (MM type), known for its clear and detailed sound. The stylus shows little wear.

Includes new AC power cable, ground cable, RCA cable, and a printed copy of the instruction manual.

Fully working units of this model are now rare and are expected to become even harder to find.

This model is permanently exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and its simple design reflects a philosophy similar to Apple’s design ethos. Its performance also demonstrates Panasonic’s advanced engineering at the time.

The combination of a high-precision DC motor direct drive system and a heavy-duty precision aluminum die-cast chassis forms the foundation of its high sound quality.

The linear tracking arm uses a high-precision DC motor controlled by a computer system. A low-friction slide bearing ensures silent and accurate arm movement with no unnecessary vibration.

An original optical sensor system is used to detect arm angle without contact, enabling precise control. The unit can play records even when placed vertically or at an angle.

The platter integrates the motor rotor and platter into a single structure, achieving high mechanical precision. Quartz control and full-perimeter FG detection ensure extremely stable rotation.

A microcomputer-controlled full auto mechanism consolidates all operations into four buttons, with an automatic return function that brings the arm back to the rest position after playback.

It also includes a built-in MC preamplifier, allowing MC cartridges to be used even with non-MC compatible amplifiers.

The underside of the platter is damped with rubber to eliminate vibration and resonance.
