This custom model features distinct differences from standard models, including a higher grade of wood, elaborate tortoiseshell-patterned headstock and pickguard, an original mother-of-pearl swan logo, and unique internal labeling.

About Kasuga Mandolins:

Founded in Fuso Town by Kazuyuki Kasuga, a businessman who later became a prominent politician, Kasuga Mandolins brought skilled craftsmen from Suzuki Violin. Their popularity was immense, with orders pouring in, making them instrumental in the genesis of Nagoya's instrument industry. Even after ceasing operations, their meticulously crafted, robust instruments with original designs continue to be highly valued, fueled by the Japan Vintage boom.

Playability:

Over 20 years since its manufacture, the neck exhibits a slight forward bow. While strong picking may result in minor fret buzz, it is not an issue for normal play. The double-cutaway design makes playing in the higher frets exceptionally easy, proving invaluable for sessions and solo performances.

Sound:

The rosewood's characteristic brilliance and excellent acoustic resonance are superb. Instruments from this era utilized high-quality materials without regard for cost. The rosewood back displays beautiful grain, indicative of a very high-grade instrument. The neck has a well-balanced, rounded profile that fits comfortably in the hand.

The tortoiseshell binding on the headstock and the body's outer binding, which are prone to deterioration with age, remain beautifully intact. While there is slight sun fading and a few minor scuffs, the instrument is considered in excellent condition given its age.
