A top-of-the-line Tokai “premium series” Les Paul standard from 2008 has arrived. This guitar features a goldtop finish, a TOM bridge, and P-90 type pickups, making it a 1956-style specification. As expected from the premium series, it has a lacquer finish, a one-piece mahogany body, hide glue construction, CTS pots, and Switchcraft parts, resulting in a carefully built and authentic Japanese-made model. The neck is a slim type reminiscent of the 60s, offering high playability and a comfortable grip. Tokai has been praised as “the best in Japan at making copy models,” and you can truly experience their high level of craftsmanship with this instrument.
Detailed description:
Overall, there are scratches, dents, signs of use, and dullness or rust on the metal parts. The truss rod works well, with sufficient adjustment range in both the forward and backward directions. The neck relief has been adjusted with the truss rod, but there is a slight back bow from the joint area (reverse high action). This does not cause any issues in playing condition. The frets show signs of leveling in the past, but they still have sufficient height and do not affect playability.
