Sony ICF-6800A Multi Band Receiver

This Sony ICF-6800A is in good condition with excellent reception across all bands. Includes a copy of the instruction manual.

Key Features & Condition:

・Reception: Highly sensitive and clear reception on FM (76-90MHz), MW (530-1605KHz), and SW (1.6-30MHz) across 29 band switch positions. Confirmed reception of various broadcasts including midwave, Radio Nikkei, time signals, CB radio, foreign language broadcasts, and amateur radio bands.

・Controls: Tuning is smooth. All switches and volume controls operate smoothly.

・Power: Battery compartment is clean and accepts batteries. FM LED lights up.

・FM Adjustment: The FM band has been slightly adjusted to receive slightly higher frequencies, with a corresponding minor shift in the meter display.

・Indicators: Level meter pointer is normal and swings cleanly. Digital frequency display is normal. All three lamps (excluding memo light) are lit. Two lamps have been replaced with equivalent miniature bulbs.

・Battery Cover Spring: Repaired and removed to prevent short-circuiting the power pins due to the known weakness of this model's battery cover spring.

・Serial Number Sticker: Removed during cleaning as it was mostly peeled off and the number was lost.

・Cosmetic Condition: The entire rear cover has a slight brownish discoloration compared to other parts. There are minor signs of age such as rust, stains, scuffs, and small scratches near the power switch and battery cover. However, considering it's nearly half a century old, it is in good condition overall with no major scratches.

・Internal Condition: Appears to have undergone adjustments and replacement of worn parts during internal inspection and cleaning. No internal modifications or alterations have been made to the mechanism or circuit boards.

・Sound Quality: Powerful yet mild and pleasant sound quality.

・Model Improvement: The ICF-6800A features significantly improved component reliability over the ICF-6800, offering more confidence in use.
