The new lateral balance mechanism enhances accuracy by allowing the main weight shaft to move parallel. This mechanism features a structure where the axis of the main weight moves laterally. Since the moving part is positioned very close to the pivot point of the tonearm, it minimizes unnecessary stress on the pivot and prevents an increase in inertia. Additionally, this design concept contributes to a wider compatible cartridge weight range. The SME R Black series is an extremely rare tonearm with very limited availability.
