Description
This is a used PENN SQUIDDER NO.140 reel, very popular in Japan. It was developed with a different concept from regular baitcasting reels, specifically for surfcasting, making it a rare reel. It is an upper-tier model of the company's Surfmaster. Experienced long-distance casters have recorded distances of up to 180 meters.
In addition to the clutch lever, it features an anti-reverse lever, allowing for reverse rotation of the handle. By pulling the round ring on the right cup, the mechanism can be easily removed for maintenance. The resin spool is designed with internal fins to prevent backlash.
The side plate is adorned with a relief of a surfcaster. This reel is suitable not only for surf fishing but also for rock fishing and general boat fishing, making it a versatile and handy item. It has been disassembled, cleaned, and serviced due to deterioration of lubricants. The drag is Shimano, and the rotating parts are finished with U.S.A Synco Chemical extreme pressure grease.
There are slight signs of use, such as minor plating loss on the rim and foot, but it is in decent condition overall.
