Description

This diorama recreates the confusion during the Battle of Midway as aircraft were switched from bombing to torpedo configuration. Following a report of carrier sightings from Tone No. 4, which launched 30 minutes late, a switch from bombs to torpedoes was ordered for the secondary attack on Midway Island, leading to chaos in the hangar bay. The removed bombs were left unsecured, leading to their subsequent attack by SBD Dauntless dive bombers.

・Features the Type 97 Carrier Attack Bomber, along with recreated elements of the Akagi's flight deck, hangar bay, and Type 96 triple machine gun mounts on the hull.
